The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
